No fewer than 20 vehicles were destroyed in the attack on Kuje prison in the federal capital territory (FCT).
Gunmen had attacked the prison with explosives on Tuesday night.
Speaking with journalists on Wednesday, Shuaib Belgore, permanent secretary, ministry of interior, said 600 inmates escaped during the attack.
