A renowned Sports Psychologist /President, Africa Students Football Union (ASFU), Prof. Oluwaseun Omotayo, has congratulated the newly elected president of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau and the Board.
This was contained in a statement sent to our correspondent through WhatsApp which reads in part;
“Thank God the election went smoothly. I received the outcome with mixed feelings. I can only wish the new President and the Board a most successful tenure as the Nigeria football ecosystem needs to grow in a sustainable manner.
“The new Board should come up with a mechanism of grassroots football and an improved league”.
He further stated: ” The new NFF should have a break from having foreign coaches as Technical Advisers or Coaches of any of Nigeria National Teams. Nigeria should upscale the competency of Indigenous Coaches so that Players performance can be more entertaining and worthy of national call- ups. These stakeholders namely the Indegenous Coaches and Players should be the priority of the Gusau” he concluded.
It will be recalled that in Benin, Edo State, the Zamfara-born football administrator defeated nine other contestants to emerge as the successor of Mr. Amaju Pinnick.
